How to Play Backgammon Online

Backgammon, an ancient game, has been transformed for the digital era while keeping its core principles intact. The virtual board mimics the real-world setup, and the objectives remain the same: your goal is to move all your checkers into your home board and remove them before your opponent does.

Each player begins with 15 checkers placed on the board. Your "home" board is located opposite your opponent’s, and it plays a crucial role in your success. Keep a close watch on it as you play.

Players take turns rolling dice, using the roll to move their checkers. You can either move a single checker by the total of both dice or split the moves between two checkers. If you roll doubles, you get double the moves—either moving one checker the total of both dice times two or moving four separate checkers by the value of one die each.

Move your checkers to open spaces

Checkers can only be moved to the following locations:

• Empty spots with no checkers
• Spots already occupied by your own checkers
• Spots where your opponent has just one checker

You cannot move your checkers to spots where your opponent has two or more checkers.

Capturing your opponent's checker

If your checker lands on a spot where your opponent has a single checker, you capture that piece. The opponent's checker is then placed on the bar and must re-enter the game by rolling the dice, starting over from the beginning of the board.

How to win

The first player to move all their checkers into their home board and successfully remove them wins the game.
